Hello, late to the discussion as usual... just wanted to add that I had emergency gall bladder removal due to stones and associated pancreatitis a few months ago. I spent 3 days in the hospital plus had a bad reaction to the pain killers. The bloating & swelling lasted a couple of weeks, I was off work for 1 week and advised not to lift anything over 10 lbs for at least a month. Both the surgeon and my regular doc cleared me for diving just 1 month after surgery- and I tried - but the pressure of the wetsuit on my abdomen + the muscles used to kick made it too painful until about the 6 week point. Listen to your body and dont overdo it.
On the subject of "reflux" -- which I was diagnosed with 15 years ago and have been on every medication approved by the FDA since-- I have no symptoms whatsoever now. 12 weeks, no medication, no reflux, no change in diet. BTW - the scars are so tiny they look like moles...

Isn't it fun when someone tells you how bad their similar surgery was? :lol2: Glad you survived in spite of the challenges, and that Erp's case is much simplier.

I was in the hospital for a record minimum at the time of 5 days - most lasted a week or more in those days, and my scar was big enough for both hands. Glad things have changed, and my scar has faded.

I am very glad technology has improved the recovery time! Surgeon said that in the past I would not have been allowed to dive for 3-5 months (with the type of surgery you had) so I feel fortunate, especially since I just got back from Bonaire! Whoo hoo!

Yep, I'm still baffled over my grandson's gall bladder surgery at 13 - they have a name for the procedure, but I'm mess it up. We had to keep him off the trampoline the next day...!

Glad you got a cute scar. Got pics? :D

Wow c-monkey you went through a lot. glad you got through yours ok.

Don as far as feeling like wanting to jump on a trampoline, i don't. Probably from them fixing the hernia also. I went out today to get some new sandals and the ten minute ride to the store was enough. Doc said still no driving or lifting for a few days yet. He wants to see more progress yet before he starts letting me do things. The incision areas are getting itchy though and it is driving me nuts.

Yeah, I guess so. Best wishes...!
