Had a great time diving Rainbow River this past Sunday. The water was great and we saw a lot of bass and other small fish. We only found a couple of gar in the gar hole. Not a deep dive but it was fun and a learning experience. The only bad thing was that I lost my wedding band in the river so there is a nice wedding band in the river.

Good to hear you enjoyed your trip. I'll be going there Sat. Aug. 26 afternoon. So if I find a wedding band, I'll contact you.

Did you go with a tour or by yourself?

I went on a tour with American Pro Diving Center. If you haven't picked a place to dive with you should check them out.

I'm researching the ops for Rainbow River (and Crystal River).

How did the tour with American Pro work? Their shop is in Crystal River. Do you follow their car from Crystal River to Rainbow River? Then I suppose you get on their boat to head upstream to the beginning of the river, then they let you off? Do they then stay on the boat behind you as you drift? Or do they just drive the boat away and you're on your own? I've heard some ops do "shuttle" trip, meaning they drop you off in the water and that's their "trip".

Did you use the Rainbow on the side of State Park or on the side of private beach? I can easily access to private beach if you went there. Let me know and I will find it for you.

You follow them to Rainbow River from Crystal River. They take you up river and it is a drift dive. So they follow your bubbles and anchor up at the end so you can get back on. The end is a small cavern where spring water comes out so you can get in it if you want.

Rainbow River is a wonderful dive... arrange to do a 2-tank trip... once in late afternoon and one at twilight... different animals start coming out after dark.

Made arrangements to do Boat, Night and Drift specialties with American Pro. Was almost as cheap to do the specialties as it was to do just the diving. Also did King's Springs. Contact Sean Bradley at American Pro.

ScubaJW I was at the State Park area.

Pickens how much was the speciality night dive and do they do it in the Rainbow River?

I live right on rainbow river, well - not RIGHT on it, just 1 mile away and have access to private beach next to the state park. Do you have an idea where exactly you lost your ring?

it's probably long gone thru the loose sand anyway but I'd be happy to go and snorkel/skindive for it for ya.

I have no clue where I lost it. It was half way thru the dive when I notice I lost it. Wish I know where.
