Do any of you use this setup, or something similar?

I'm having trouble using my strobe when shooting in the macro mode or trying to use a longer focal length.

In what shooting mode should I be? Auto, M, S, A, P . . . .

Since I have the same camera that will go UW by next summer, I've been looking here a lot for some nice tips and tricks, and also for info about the proper equipment:
