Ft Wetherill Question

Quick Questions...when would Ft. Wetherill get blown out? Forecast for Sat is strong S winds. Seems to me that would be a bad time to dive there as that part of RI is S facing(more or less). Please corect me if I'm wrong. What about other RI sites that are protected from a S wind? Thanks.

I thought more of my usual references would include Ft. Wetherill but at least this one seems to support your conclusion.

yup winds outa the south will do it

Yeah, the only site I've dived in RI with winds from the south is Potters Cove....which isnt much of a dive. Might be better off heading to cape ann - we had good conditions at Folly Cove and the winds were ripping from the south and the cove was flat calm.

Yeah, you're probably right about that. When other local sites are too windy/surge/surf(Pebble Beach, Lobolly, etc.), you can usually dive Folly. i don't know what the forecast for Cape Ann is though. Have to check it out.

I know, gotta get out there... Going to have to check the schedule. Kids this weekend and MissD coming up next weekend. Not a very good 'intro to New England diving' dive for her...
