Dove FT W on Friday. Beautiful weather. First dive around 9:30 AM with the tide running out. Water was colder than expected based upon the Newport Buoy reports. 52 degrees. Dove the right cove on the right side staying in the cove. Vis 5-7 with nice encounters with good sized fluke and torpedo ray. Took a coffee break and took a second dive in the same cove but went along the left side. Lion Mane jellies all over with vis improving to 10 plus. Early season dive for me with just a 5 mil. Look forward to the next visit. MICR0009.jpgMICR0011.jpg

I was down there last Monday (Memorial Day). Sounds like you had about the same conditions. I saw a huge Tautog, at least 2' long on at the base of the left wall of Sandy Beach Cove. Plenty of jellies, too, got one right across the mouth. Fortunately, the water was so cold it didn't do much more than annoy me. My second dive was more of the same. Not a lot of the more interesting marine life out there yet, but that will change.

Slowly figuring out how to post video. Winter Skate

By the way that is a common skate not a torpedo ray. Torpedo rays are electric and can shock you. A skate is not.
