My husband and I will be doing a Nekton trip in late July, and I'm looking for recommendations for a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. We will be spending 1 night after the trip, and I'm looking for something with a shuttle to the airport and, preferably, not too far from something to do as we will need to kill Saturday.

Neither of us is familiar with the Ft. Lauderdale area, so any insight will be welcome.

Thanks
-Chris

The airport in Ft. Lauderdale is only 10 minutes from the beach or downtown, so if your hotel doesn't have a shuttle, the cab ride will still only be about 20$.

You might try the Riverside Hotel. It's right on the Las Olas strip downtown with lots of good places for dinner and drinks. If you want a place on the beach, try the Yankee Clipper. If you want some lower-end places, let me know and I can get a good recommendation for you.

Their travel agency (in house) will set you up. I always stay at the Executive Inn (?), it's right at Soth Federal & SE 17th St. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...l=en&lr=&start=3&sa=X&oi=images&ct=image&cd=2 and near the cruise ship area. It'sw just at the corner of the road you take East (SE 17th) over the bridge to go to South end of Ft Lauderdale Beach. Cab it.
