Ft Lauderdale conditions

Folks my wife and I will be in Fla, the week of 17-22 Apr since we are not familiar with the local conditions. Since we are coming from up north are the water temps warm enough for a 3 mil shorty or full suit? or should we bring our 7s? What are your opinions about hood and gloves?

We will be diving off the Aquabella, none of our dives will be below 60ft and we will also do a shore dive to get weight right.

I've just moved here from North Carolina, and I've been wearing a 3/2 full suit with light weight reef gloves and have been comfortable. Water temps so far have been in the low 70s for the past couple of months. Some of my buddies that are from around here like hoods and a little more thermal protection, but if you are used to those 60 degree quarry and Lake dives like I was, it's not bad at all, if you disregard that first minute or so when Ms. Ocean meets the inside of Mr. Wetsuit...

I probably would use a full-length suit, both for thermal protection and to keep nasties (Fire Coral, Sea Lice, Jellyfish, etc.) off.

I have been diving all winter with a 3mil fulll over a .5mil full and have been very warm. I would say that if your coming from Pa. to dive in Florida that a full 3mil would be sufficient. Of course there are many thoughts on this subject and other variables, I stand by my suggestion.
