Should have asked yesterday when you were here, the hulls are from the harbour clean up and one of them is most likely the WC Richardson or Chamberlain. I will have to check my records later. They were not in any shape for the long haul out to deeper water and were dragged until they "dropped". The Anchors have a different story, if you listen to folk lore a nazi sub got under a boat and came through the channel. The more than likely reason is that Turkey and another country had a joint shipping operation and not to be mistaken used the backward symbol to curry favor, this is most likely an anchor from a old merchant ship. There is also another on display at French Creek Marina in Clayton NY.

The modern stockless anchor has a Lyods Registry marking (the reversed Nazi symbol). This particular style of reigistry marking was dropped in the post war period for obvious reasons. The anchor was lost by the Prostasious when she grounded off the head of Wolfe Island. The anchor was used to Kedge the stranded freighter off the ledge it was stuck on. Due to weather it was never recovered until a few years ago. It was palced in the Portsmouth anchor yard in 2001 by local divers so all could enjoy this piece of nautical history. The same can be said for the wooden stocked anchor that sits not far from it.
