This comes as quite a shock to me but will likely be old news and commonplace to everybody here. First of all the size of this stingray but more so the fact that it is a freshwater ray. Is this common to have carryover from salt to fresh with marine life? I have seen rays in areas where fresh drains into salt (so there was a murky reduced salinity aura but never figured they would be present in true fresh water.

There are many freshwater only varieties of stingrays. Quite a few are kept by aquarist that originate from the amazon.
