Marek, my fellow miopic! Great idea about the bright yeallow strap! I have -9.5/-10 as well...talk about a low volume mask...It's ALL lens in there! Have worried about loosing it... [...] Sorry to hijack your thread Carlos!
Well, to continue the hijack until a mod splits it off...

We've got a couple of problems. Overall is the fact that we can't afford to lose our masks, like this guy obviously did.

What I've got is one of these (top of page), in yellow/lime.

This Marsoops thing does several things for me:

1) It acts like a normal neoprene strap.

2) It makes my mask (with the very heavy lenses) pretty much neutrally buoyant. If I drop the mask off a boat, it should stay on the surface. If I lose it in mid-water column, it should stay somewhere around me.

3) The color should make my mask more visible if I drop it overboard, or as I'm blindly groping for it in the water.

4) The strap turns inside out and becomes a cushioned case for the mask.

...Have worried about loosing it...super careful in surf (I sometimes pull my hood back, and put the strap under for entries and exits).

Although my mask is not prescription and could be replaced inexpensively, I always put my mask strap under my hood. That way if the strap breaks, the mask is retained by the hood until I can free one of my hands (I am a videographer) to recover it. I usually just hold the mask against my face with the hand, or with the camcorder housing if I'm filming something. Only had a strap break once, but it was on a dive I can only do once a year and this saved me from having to abort the dive.

Realize a lot of people don't need to dive with hoods (envy) so this won't work for many divers.

Thanks for that link and information Marek!!!

I'm going to order one to see if it will work for me. I like the insurance bit too!

Cheers!!
