You'll find fossils all over Florida. All you have to do is dig. It's easier if the digging is already done for you. Go to quarries (get permission from the owner) or go to rivers and streams. Venice Beach (not terribly close to Jax) There are many excellent books on the subject. Fossiling in Florida is one that comes to mind. I believe it's by Mark Rentz. If that one isn't, he has written books on the topic. Unless you limit your take to shark teeth, you will need a state license. Details are in the book.

Fossil Diving by Robert W. Sinibaldi ISBN-0-09657010-5-0 Renz's book is ISBN 0-8130-1677-0 .There area lot more books out there.Jax diving is mostly boat only with a few places you can shore dive IF carefully planned.

I know guys who have dug many fossils out of the Suwanee, Withlacoochee, Santa Fe & Ichetucknee rivers.

Lots of Mastodon teeth, bones and such.
