I read it that the diver probably thought he had it clipped, but it wasn't there when he went to check it again. If he couldn't get it clipped, I'd think he wouldn't have waited til he wanted to look at it again to get some help from his buddy.JeffG:Really? It has happened to me when the d-ring lies flat on the webbing and you have to feel around for it to pull it off the webbing.
The first time I checked my spg, I didn't get it snapped back to my hip. I couldn't find it without my buddy's help, which worries me.

i read it as he forgot to clip the SPG, swam along, then tried to get the SPG
back, but couldn't find it by himself
