I have been an avid and loyal Force fin user for the last 12 yrs. I started with the original Force Fins when it wasn't in "fashion" and would get strange looks from other divers when I showed up with them. But I would never consider using anything else and I am still using my original pair, both with dry suit as well as with just snorkeling. I have however, been looking at the newer Pro Force Fin or the Tan Delta. Is there a "significant" difference between these newer fins compared to the original which is still sold? Would I really notice any functional improvement if I upgraded to one of these newer ones? Anybody had a chance to compare them? Thanks.
Peter

I too will never give up my Force Fins. When I got a drysuit and needed larger fins I went from the regular Force Fins to the Pros. There is only a bit of difference in the stiffness of the fins. The Pros are a bit stiffer otherwise no other differences.

I still use my regular Force Fins in the tropics.

Both pairs are outfitted with the bungee cord heel straps

I have used the regular force fins, and I own and dive only the tan deltas (in the original ugly purple color). I find the fin is stiffer but gives more "snap" and has alot more power per kick over the standard FF. FFs website lists the tan deltas very high on their "snap" rating system...

I have not tried the pro model but would think it falls someplace in between the two.

I'am a fan of force fins and like everything about them,
especially there short length. I have a pair, but don't know
what kind they are and if I can't find a pair of Tans on Ebay,
will get them form there site;

http://forcefins.com/

Site also has movies showing proper kick, size chart and other info.

A couple of years ago I read rave reviews about force fins and got myself a pair. I've never really been able to get used to them, though. They hurt the tops of my feet, and after just a little while I need to switch strokes. I find it easiest to use a frog kick with them, but this isn't always practical.

I don't know if I'm just kicking wrong or if I'm just not strong enough, or what they problem is. They seem to move me pretty well, but I tire a lot more quickly than with my old fins.

They are the original force fins.

I'm thinking of switching to Atomic split fins.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Jagular007 mate it sounds to me like you might be useing the wrong kicking technique. firstly let me point out.

1) I'm a noobie so what do I know.
2) I've got my force fins on order & haven't recieved them yet let alone tried them yet! so what do i know.
3) I've done alot or research & read lots of other peoples comments & reviews so I've got a good picture of the pro's & con's which is why I think I can offer advice on this.
4) please someone who is experienced Back me up or shoot me down on this. :boom:

you said that they hurt the tops of your feet. You might not be aware that you can get padded inserts for them which should make a better fit. If you've already gt the niserts then maybe you need the next size down.

as for your other problem this definately sounds like a wrong technique. for the Force fins you need to use a slightly different kick to other fins. With force fins you need to use the knee & ankle more & use lots of small kicks instead of slow big powerful ones. Once the kick gets beyond a certain point all the thrust is pointed down giving you no benefit at all. the correct kicking technique has be described as kicking as if you had no fins on. ie as you'd normally swim in the buff

Hope that helps mate. but It would definately be worth checkingout there website cos it's got short mpegs showing the correct technique plus explanations on how they work.

Cheers
Stig
