My wife wishes to replace her aging Seaquest Bc -- she has tried on almost every women's BC in our area. She liked the Ladyhawk and the Seaquest Pearl, but both are a little bulky for travel packing, but fine in the water. She tried the Dive Rite Transpac also -- she liked how streamlined it felt in comparison to jacket bcs, but the showstopper for her is the webbing and metal belt ... no logic can turn around her adverse reaction to her perception that it could be uncomfortable.

So, I did some searching and found that OMS makes BPW with a comfort harness that has a cummerbund that also has a metal buckle (BP-133/134) OMS Technical Dive Harness Backplate Systems http://www.OMSdive.com, but the cummerbund appears to have some padding. This may be the compromise for perceived comfort, less bulk, and less travel weight.

Anyone have any direct experience with one of these?

Thanks
JR

I owned one and returned it before getting it wet in favor of a single piece hogarthian style harness which is much more streamlined and comfortable.

Your wife has already figured out what she likes, why talk her out of it?

Hi

Like you wrote it's just a perception...she can probably try one before buying.
I've been fitted with a Halcyon BP/W which is just webbing and metal buckle, and have no problem wearing it with just a my bikini...;) It's like wearing nothing...

Just a rashguard under it can do the trick also like this woman in the picture..

You can't be more streamlined than a plain BP/W. nothing can beat it in my opinion!;)

Honest, she has not quite sorted out what she likes and I have no chance of talking her out of anything -- she has her own mind and I only try to help with providing options for her! She is going to try on the Transpac again today --- I suggested we get a neoprene sleeve for the belt if that is really the showstopper, but the OMS rig looks like it might work.

Thanks
JR

Thanks Jen, I am forwarding your comments to her as a woman's perspective on the webbing.

well I hope she can try before she buys to be sure it doesn't bother her....
Usually we wear some kind of suit while diving, so the webbing shouldn't be a problem.....just my opinion! ;)
