I want to carry on my regulators. I also want to carry on my HID canister light, I am worried about the bulb getting beaten up. Will I be allowed to bring these items on the plane with our current travel restrictions? Thanks for you help.

There currently aren't any restrictions on those items. You may want to check the battery (in a suitcase) though.

I flew today and will again tomorrow. I carried my regulator/computer/camera housing with no problems. HID battery? That I have no clue about. I would venture to say that the battery will be a problem.
Get there early, I arrive 3 hours early today and the TSA folks were very helpful. It appears that everyone was working together today.

According to the NTSB, the answer is yes. You should be able to take any form of electronics (within reason). The only recent change to carry on items are liquids & gells.

How stupid.. why couldn't someone hide some liquid or gel inside of what appears to be a battery? Sigh.

I bet they'd look at a large battery twice. Don't you think?

Thanks, I will carry on the regulators and the light head/cord/lid and check the battery. The battery pack does sort of look like a bundle of TNT.

It'll always be possible to slip this stuff by no problem. Stash a little PCMCIA-card shaped vial in a laptop, another flat little vial in your wallet, another in your Gameboy, whatever.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack

I read somewhere that regular batteries were still OK but liquid and gel cell batteries were not. My caving canister light is a gel cell....so I would check it.

I was under the impression they could detect liquids in general, not just going by shape. They just couldn't tell what the liquids were.
