Wife and I are heading out on the Fling to the Flower gardens in 3 weeks. This will be our first trip out and was wondering if anyone has any tips/advice for the trip.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I hear Sept is the best time to hit the flower gardens because thats when the coral spawns and that attracts the whale sharks - is this true. I had a trip planned when Katrina hit -- and never went back .. I still plan to go now that my son is ready to dive.
My tips:
- Bring bug spray for the dock
- Get there early and get a bunk in the back of the boat
- Make sure you hang on tight to your mask on the jump in
- While on the surface keep your face buried down in the water
- Never get out of sight of the boat.
- Use the downline, the boat and the thin line they run to guide you
- Use the HI-376 rig dive to stay shallower, it will help you with bottom time later in trip
- End your dive early – be at no less than 1000 psi when you surface because you will have your reg in mouth until you’re standing on the deck
- Bring a few DVDs for movie nights
- Bring Dramamine
PS: Be sure to give JT a big noogie for me
