Can anyone recommend airlines that fly into Kota Kinabalu from Cebu, please ?? Preferably direct..... Cebu Pacific is the best option I've found so far, but that goes via Manila....

Cheers......

Hi Bubble Junky,

You could also check out Jetstar and Silk Air (along with Cebu Pacific). I think they both do direct flights from Cebu to Kota Kinabalu (BKI). Air Asia only fly from Manila to BKI.

For a nice hotel at ~RM100 per night in central Kota Kinabalu you should check out Eden 54 Hotel.

Enjoy your holiday in Sabah.

A second vote for Eden 54. It's on Jl Gaya close to a lot of good restaurants. It is about RM120.

Eden 54 will be fine for your price range. The managers are very pleasant and you get what you pay for. Try to get a room off the road, as it is very busy even at night.

The Starbucks' in KK still serve frappchino with the old mix...excellent.

I'll be in KK overnight at Best Western Daga Kinabalu. Any good restaurants nearby?
On way back, overnight Semporna at Seafest. Any advice? Anything to do?

When in KK my votes always go to the Sedco Kompleks Seafood court !
Should be about 15/20minutes walk from Daya (which if I am not wrong is near Wisma Merdeka) follow the large avenue like you were going to Tanjung Aru airport, you'll go past a park and a small night market, turn left after 15minutes when you see a petrol station on your left, it's 100m further, the sidewalk in front.

Otherwise the filipino market stalls on the seafront are always nice and cheap.

If you still need an expresso and a yummy chocolate cake after your dinner (that's something I am missing after a week diving in Sipadan), rush to the Hyatt, next to Wisma Merdeka, they have a nice pastry shop (you can believe a frenchman when talking about pastries). :D

On way back, overnight Semporna at Seafest.
Ouch!

Thx Luko! ill look for those. Been to KK years back, shouldnt be hard finding the places.

Oopsie, not my choice for Semporna. Is it that bad?

The Seafest is perfectly tolerable. Rooms on the harborside have small views. Rooms on the other side often have views of...a solid wall. Slight price difference. The hotel caters to Taiwanese package tours. The breakfast buffet is adequate, but get there before the package groups swarm the food. The little outdoor restaurant, by contrast, is delightful. Right on the water, very cheap, decent food. Popular with locals. Not always open...ask hours when you check in. The Seafest's "business" office offers slow but tolerable internet service at a modest fee. There is a small sitting area in front of the front desk that has free newspapers for guests to read.

In KK, next to the Meridien hotel, there is an enormous indoor (a/c) shopping center complete with Starbuck's, McDonald's, and local food. It's the main hangout for local youth and is open late. If you want to treat yourself, the Meridien has terrific buffet dinners and breakfasts...but not cheap.
