Don't let the drift diving scare you about Cozumel. I am a new diver and it is a little different but not any harder. Be honest about your experience and air consumption with your dive shop, I hate to be the one that makes a group come up much earlier than the need to.

I did the CUN to Cozumel "bag drag" in October and it was not bad at all, plenty of info on here and Trip Advisor.

Never dove on Isla Mujeres but stayed there for a few days and it is much more conjested than Coz. No cruise ship traffic but many day tripers from Cancun. Talked to a guy fgrom San Pedro Belize there who was selling stuff on the street and he said there was many more people there than in Belize. Don't go to Isla Mujeres for peace and quite.

That's the most bizarre description of Isla Mujeres I've ever heard. There's more people in the bar at senor frogs in Cozumel than the population of the entire island of Isla Mujeres

"In the 2010 census, the namesake town on the island had a population of 12,642 inhabitants."[1]

Exactly. Like I said more people in Senior Frogs in Cozumel than the entire population of the island of Isla Mjueres.

When I was there it was very hectic. The island is just over 4 miles long and less than a mile wide. Over 100 taxis 1500 scooters and a bunch of golf carts. It is also cram packed with restaurants. I did enjoy my stay there, I just wouldn't call it laid back.

If you are set on Cozumel, i would also recommend Aldora. We always dive with them. They use larger tanks so you get more bottom time than you would with someone else. You can dive with them even if you don't stay with them, but if you are also looking for a laid back clean, comfy place to stay, check out the Aldora Villa. They don't have morning breakfast buffets or things like the big resorts will have, but honestly you don't need it. They are a bit north of downtown, so they provide bikes if you want to use them, otherwise taxi's are super cheap. Also, the boat will pick you up right there at the villa so everything is super convenient. We will actually be there from the 20th-24th...so look for us if you go there. :)
