The nut on the Din Inlet of my FH VI does not spin freely causing it to back the whole unit out of the port. I took it to my local reg shop where they lubed it and tightened the allen nut. It still binds. It is not bent or taken any hits. Any ideas?

I asked Jim Fox, our regulator specialist, about this and this is what he says:

If the outer DIN Wheel does indeed bind on the DIN Bolt, there
should be some sort of physical mark left by this binding.

There is plenty of clearance when it is manufactured and something would have to happen to make it bind. Was binding like this since it was new??

Is it an Apeks or a Zeagle made Flathead-VI.

Is the hand-wheel is all chromed brass (Apeks) or if it has a plastic overmolded
handwheel (Zeagle).

When manufactured, they are VERY loose and should never bind.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

It has always been tight. It worked its way up to binding. Corrosion? After lubing and tightening, it doesn't bind but is back to being very snug. I do not see any marks on it. Do you suggest ordering another inlet through Scubatoys? I bought the reg from them.

Thanks,

Can't say I have never seen one this tight. Where did you get it ? Maybe take it back to the store and try a different Shaft on it ?

Cheers

jetfixer,

Something is not right here, but I can't see a problem from the photos.

And we at Zeagle want to know what's up.

Your Zeagle made Flathead should not have any problem with the DIN wheel binding, even if it's salt crusted. I've never seen one do this and I'll admit to often abusing my Flatheads with excess salt and poor rinsing.

Since you are in CA, stopping by a local Zeagle dealer might be the easiest way to get an idea of what's wrong. Or if you are not diving for a while, it could be sent to Zeagle for an inspection. They would not need anything but the 1st stage itself, minus the hoses.

Chad is correct. You can either send it to us, to Scuba Toys, or take it to your LDS...

This is not a common problem, so we would really like to know what is going on with your particular reg.

Please keep us posted as to what you decide to do!

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks for the replies.

Scott, I will send the first stage with the Din inlet attached minus the hoses back to Zeagle. Please PM the info of how I can obtain a repair order.

Just call Customer Service at 813-782-5568 between 8:30 and 5pm EST. They will give you an RA# and ask for a brief description of the problem.

I would make sure that you put a detailed note in the box as well.

Once it arrives, out techs will take a look at it and contact you.

Thanks!

Scott

Thanks Scott. I will call first thing tomorrow.

BTW, I LOVE this reg. Please don't keep it too long.
