Visited this weekend. Turns out his recollection of where the boat went down is not too accurate, plus the current down Lake Barkley was really whipping that day. Who knows where the boat is, but it's not going to be worth hunting. Thanks for all the advice, though. Could've potentially been fun if it hadn't have been so deep where it sunk & so rough the day it went down.

Most of the fun would have been in the searching:D Are you sure he can't narrow it down to a reasonably small area?

... it's not going to be worth hunting ...
On the contrary; at the least its worth almost a buck a pound for scrap. 40' depth isn't that deep at all; a small hand-held sonar "depth sounding" unit can scan over a 100' swath.
Something that small is very easily hauled up & well worth the effort of a few day's worth of looking.
If you could've made it out there sooner the escaping fuel would've made a BIG "finger" pointing to its location. (been there, done that in Lake Michigan).

like the other divers have said it would have been worth it just in scrap im planning on doing some car recoveries her in the next few months just to scra for steel. nothin wrong with searching for fun
