On a shore dive at Nubble Light in York Maine I saw this most onusuall fish. The only word I could think of to describe it is frilly. It was in about 15 feet of water, just cruising a foot above the kelp. It was orange-ish about 18" long. The name that came to mind was lionfish, because the frills looked like a lion's mane to me. But when I research lionfish, it had the right general shape, but where a lionfish is spiky, this fish was frilly. By frilly I mean soft, curvy, almost puffy looking fins.

Thanks in advance,

Ken

Most likely a sea raven. I saw a couple yesterday while diving Gloucester, Mass.
