Fish ID help, please

Would somebody please identify the fish pictured at http://claycoleman.tripod.com/id202.htm These fish are very commonly seen sleeping at night in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico banks. About 8 inches long. Thanks. -Clay

Well, the exposed maxilla, free upper edge of the opercle and three spines on the gill cover pretty much make it a seabass of some sort, but without more fish to look at I'm stumped beyond that.

It's a glasseye snapper.
