On May 19, 2012, LAFD Diver Shawn Mason, pulled a victim from a submerged vehicle utilizing a UTD Z Side-mount SCUBA configuration. After a resent UTD Z Side-mount mini certification, Diver Mason credited the side-mount configuration his quick unrestricted access into the vehicles confined space.
SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was left in grave condition after plunging into the water of the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon.The accident happened just before 3 p.m. in the waters near North Side Pier 300.Witnesses told rescuers that they saw the car drive off a public roadway and plunge into the water, landing upside down.Divers pulled the driver from the car. He was taken to a nearby hospital.It's not clear what caused the accident.
