Well, I've tried twice to edit and add to my post, and I can't, so here it is: Mexico is like Florida cave country. You can get almost anything fixed, or rent replacements, except for exposure protection.

A hooded vest under the 5mm works for me and I'm fairly thin(and fairly old!). I think I used 11# total in my Razor last time I was there. I never found any Guiness, but if you like dark beer, try the Negra Modelo.

Thanks Lynne, Looks like I might leave a little of the redundancy home, then, to save a little weight. Your description of the Halocline sounds exactly how my instructor described it & how to manage it. We will be doing 3 days of guided dives & 3 days of our own (all mixed up). My instructor has been to MX many, many times & knows enough of some of the caves to comfortably guide, but a few systems he felt more comfortable with hiring a guide. Of our group, the instructor has many dives in MX caves, 1 has been there several times, 1 has been there once before & myself & another gentleman; this will be our first time. We will be going in 1 team of 3 & 1 team of 2, probably divided up by air consumption (I'm probably the weakest link there).

I have a 3mm core warmer & will be wearing a 3mm beanie (the less constrictive the hood, the better I do). I will likely have to play it by ear on the first dive about the weight, but should have it ironed out pretty quick. Unfortunately I'm not exactly thin:shakehead:,... but I would like to think of myself as young:D. Not much of a beer drinker,.. but I do plan on partaking of some local drinks there.:drunks::eyebrow:

tammy, if you're not a chilly child usually, you'll be fine without the 7mil. i was totally fine in a beat-up 5 for a week of 2+ hour dives every day.

maybe your group will plan more diving, but we were also there for some vaca. we got up & got going by 8 or 9, were in the water by 10 or so, did a 2-3 hour dive, went for a pretty big lunch, and hung out for the afternoon - maybe drinking, maybe napping, maybe snorkeling, maybe sightseeing. anyway, i was not cold for a moment with an old 5. leave the 7.

Will do. Not nearly as cold natured as my instructor. I just dive a drysuit 99% of the time.

We will be doing 2 dives/ day with maybe a cavern dive or 2 (one of the SO's is an OW diver, so our Instructor will take her on a couple cavern dives, if she wants).

Tammy, if you get cold, don't take a 3 mil suit! You're full cave, right? Thirds on a set of Al80s can keep you in the water for a couple of hours at some sites. Most of the guides dive 7mil suits, and the ZG guys dive dry. I dive dry down there and I'm really comfortable in my dry suit with a suit of polarfleece sweats under it.
