I have a Scubapro MK25 and HOG D3, both with pretty much the exact same port configuration. How do people set up their hoses in this configuration? Basically, they have two sets of ports on the barrel, with a narrower and wider space between the two sets on either side. I'm wondering which is the best spacing to face the back of your neck. I've had it with the narrower spacing for a while now with the HOG (just got the MK25) but it looks like it would be more logical for the wider space to face the back of your neck, so the hoses spread around your neck as wide as possible. Color me confused. That might be close to fuchsia.

Thanks.

Try both and see what feels best. I use a longer 40" primary so use the bottom port and I use the further from my neck for the back up. I tried the closer one for back up but didn't feel as comfortable.

look up the Dive Rite Streamlined OW configuration.

Basically take the right side of that, and make yours look identical to it. Put your primary right behind the inflator hose so when the inflator hose comes forward a little bit to go to the inflator, the primary hose goes straight down under your right shoulder. Absolute best hose configuration out there. Unfortunately it doesn't work with single tank drysuit diving, but if you're in a wetsuit it is by far the best solution.

Thanks, tbone. Is that for doubles? I am using a single tank right now.

buudhasummer: Also thanks, but I'm using a short host setup. Not yet ready for the long hose.

Ken, yes that is for doubles, and that is part of the beauty of these style first stages with that hose routing. To switch between singles and doubles only requires moving the primary regulator hose and gives the best streamlining.

Great. I've been wondering what to do with that bottom port. I'll be getting into doubles soon enough, so this is great info.

I feel so fortunate to have both the HOG D3 and the SP MK25, and that they have the same port config. I won the SP MK25/S600 Deep Blue at the Leisure Pro Demo Day raffle at Dutch Springs last weekend.

congrats on that. If you're going to doubles, and only plan on diving singles while in a wetsuit, this is really the only configuration as it saves a lot of hassle when switching regs around.
