First dive, no dive buddy. ☹️

As a new diver on your own you might find it hard to tell whether a potential or actual buddy is ok. You will also be relying on that buddy more than a more experienced diver would. This isn’t idea for either of you.

I suggest getting a private DM or guide initially, then even with only a few dives you will be better placed to judge. Joining a club and finding a group of regular buddies is even better.
 
I came across this while looking for Oregon divers, if you're still looking for dive buddies I'm also looking for people to dive with, although I'm focusing on diving locally, mostly Oregon coast and lakes as well as Washington. I'll be attending the Oregon scuba club meeting next opportunity I get as well.
