I second the DSS recommendation...high quality at reasonable prices with GREAT customer service. If you are really trying to save $$$...I recently bought a new Dive Rite aluminum plate from the Dive Gear Express website for 59.95...they were on sale...I then sourced some harness webbing hardware from McMaster-Carr (D rings) and my LDS for triglides. E-Bay is sometimes a good source for used, serviceable BP/wings. I prefer not to by used wings, however if you find a used DSS wing that meets your requirements, I wouldnt hesitate. I recently also bought a used DSS Tropical Travel Wing on ebay for a great price, but it leaked. I sent it to Tobin and they repaired it for FREE. It was not under warranty and I was not the original owner...DSS earned my business with that little bit of outstanding product support. The harness webbing can be gotten for 1.00-1.50 a foot from various sources online. It's a bit more work to get the components this way, but you will learn how to thread and adjust your harness, and will have a greater appreciation and understanding of the BP/W system, and save some $$$ as well. Just my .02 cents.

OK... I am done with the stupid stuff, this will probably get blocked or I will , But WU really do you always have to be a dick.
To the OP.. Several of the online retailers have good combo BP/W kits. I would recommend that you look at Tobins sticky post on decostop about wing lift requirements before you buy a wing.. very educational. Once you drink the koolaid of the BP/w you will never look back;) Good luck in your endeavors and get as many dives in as you can and learn from each. Hope the class goes well.

Any BP can do doubles or singles, given the proper adapter. Any wing cannot - single wings function well for singles, double wings are great for doubles, and hybrids do neither very well.
...

Agreed.

I would also say that you do not have to break the bank on this one. A cheap BP and harness set up can run you ~$100 if you go with an Al BP. If you look hard enough you can find a SS BP for $75 and then add the harness components for ~$30-$40.

The wing can be in the $200-$400 range, buy right the first time and save money latter. Buy with a budget in mind and the future in mind and win out on both.

Save money were you can but $500 is a little high for a single tank set up and a little low if you want to buy a wing for both single and double tank set ups.
