Here are a few shots I took during my first stab at underwater photograpy, last August at Flower Garden Bank in the Gulf of Mexico using a Sea & Sea MX-10. Any critiques or input would be greatly appreciated.

The biggest lesson I learned on my first outing was that I need to take a lot more shots of anything worth shooting. I wish I had framed things differently, gotten different backgrounds, lighting or different angles on many of the shots. Here are the best of the bunch.

{original links deleted due to unconscionable crappiness. Thanks Fergyjohn for letting me know the links broke.]

Here they are in slideshow format:

G,day MSilvia,

It takes a while to get used to your camera, film is cheap so just keep on taking photos you will see the results yourself.
When you can take advantage of the natural light, try and face your subject up to the surface(not always possible).
The old adage of underwater photography Get Close Get Close.
Try various fstop settings, and compare the results.
Something else you can try is place your strobe on manual rather than the auto position I never use auto.

The MX-10 is a great little camera, try and aquire the other lenses available they will allow you more flexibility, the macro lens is a must the MX takes great Macros. one other thing Bracket your photos this means take about 4 or so shots of you subject and change your fstop settings usually one of the 4 shote comes out ok.

Just persist take your time and enjoy what you are doing, its a beautiful world down under with some awesome marine creatures.

You can view some of my photos taken with the MX-10
