I recall that being reported, but I also recall reading something about requirng DNA identification at the time, which suggests severe injuries (burns?). It's also very possible that news at the time was inaccurate; for instance I can see news about bodies found in the water becoming 'drowned' in a news message. (not saying that did happen, just saying it's possible for that to happen. Remember news also keeps mentioning oxygen in our tanks).

I see no reason to even go near the suggestion of people 'want to ignore that'...
the bodies recovered the day after require DNA identification is what was said

Very possible, it's just that I rember it mainly because I was surprised at the combination at the time. Could very well be that the news item I read was mixing stuff up. Point is mainly: news can be unreliable.

A naked body in underware mixed with a couple dozen more. They are not going to take any chances in getting the body mixed up with another. DNA is a pretty quick and simple test these days. Keeps the coroner from making a mistake in identification.

I did, but honestly only because I'm overly cautious. When I was a kid, my parents boat caught fire in the middle of the night. They were sleeping, and were saved because they made a rare decision to dock for the night at the Annapolis city pier instead of anchoring out in the bay. Someone woke them and they ran across the street and got the firemen.
So for me, I can't sleep on a boat that doesn't have two legit, easy to access inside of 3 seconds, exits near my cabin
I would have led with your personal anecdote to give context.

Watching the below deck videos, the cabin is very small, dark and cramped. I would have felt claustrophobic sleeping in there. I wonder what firemen and fire marshals (who’s job is to look at spaces from the ‘what if’ perspective) thought about these accommodations?

I haven't been able to keep up with the thread. Has a passenger manifest been made public? Wondering about someone.

The authorities have brought in the Sacramento County Coroner's office, which had the unfortunate experience of having to identify the victims of the Camp Fire in Paradise. They are using the ANDE system, which can provide a DNA match in as little as two hours. So fortunately the victims familes shouldn't to suffer through an extended wait for identification.

4 souls were recovered that had injury consistent with drowning early on, it is possible that they did escape the berthing area but by the time the got out and off the boat into the water they were incapacitated enough by smoke etc they succumbed.
It’s also possible that they fell out of the remains of the boat after it sank, being incapacitated by smoke. Media reports say (for what that’s worth) the boat is upside down on the seabed, and from the dawn photo before Conception sank, there wasn’t much left of the boat above the waterline.

The reports of bodies with signs consistent with drowning came hours before the sinking, while the fire was still very active.
