I am currently using Scubapro Gorila orange, and happy with the propulsion and the stiffness, although as agreed by some here that they can be harder to operate

As I dive in warmer waters and prefer barefoot or a 3mm sock, I am looking for an alternative that fits these needs and is also lighter. The gorillas nearly weigh 3kg.

Any suggestions and insights on different models and brands is helpful

A pair of the Seawing Nova Gorilla fins weighs 3.4 lb/1.54 kg, and a pair of the Go Sport Gorillas weighs 3.3 lb/1.5 kg (both in medium). There may be some six-pound fins, but not these. And, Go Sport Gorillas are well-respected here, though of course, not universally

Scubapro Go-Sport Gorilla.

The regular Go-Sport as mentioned above… if you find the Gorilla “hard to operate” then you will like these. In water you will almost forget that you are wearing fins yet move like a mermaid … (or a hairy man chasing a mermaid)…

PS: Scubapro should hire me as a Copywriter… :daydream: really!

I got the weight from this site

I agree I like them a lot, just need an alternative that's lighter and can be used barefoot/with socks

A pair of Go-Sport Gorilla fins in size large weigh at most about two ounces more than standard Go-Sports because I have had both. The Gorillas weigh for a pair in size large come in at 3.6 pounds.

Go-Sports and Go-Sport Gorrilas are universal do it all fins. They are much like the famous Jet Fin but with a modern foot pocket, open toe and way more comfortable and much lighter. In the water they are slightly buoyant to neutral. Any kick you can do in a Jet you can do equally well with the Go-Sport and the Go-Sports flutter kick better than Jets thanks to the heavily pre-curved blade and snappy tip. Any current you can move against with a Jet can be done with the Go-Sport, the Gorilla in particular really gives nothing up to a Jet XL except for being hardly more than half the weight.

Scubapro Go Travel can be used barefoot or with thin socks.

Just got back from a trip using regular Go Sports (boot fit) and they worked great for all kicks, (flutter, frog, back, helicopter etc), and to make headway in stiff current. They feel a lot like my beloved Jetfins without the weight.
