It's time for me and not money but I'm not wealthy either. My wife and I have well-paying jobs, my daughter has moved out and I dropped other hobbies such as skydiving and choppers also known as motorcycles from my life. I just need more time... I still have my doggos though.

Cave diving isn't that expensive if you are "local." My yearly site access cost is about $500. My weekly dive cost is $30 to 40. My gas to get to cave country is the biggest expense now at $50 to 60 a week. But it used to be a lot less.

Maybe a class or equipment every couple of years. Add in the odd trip to Mexico, a trimix dive, or overnight trips.

Even if you’re not local (maybe within 4-5 hour drive?), cave country is still pretty affordable. The Midwestern divers I know all drive down. FL state parks have $4/day admission. Fills are cheaper than in the Midwest. Lodging is pretty affordable.

Just paid the $8500 bill for my first CCR. Had the $$ in the bank. I wouldn’t have been able to do this now I’d not been saving like a fiend recently.

I was lucky or unlucky depending on your perspective. I was blinded in one eye from an insured accident, payout figure was 150K. Over the following many years I spent it almost all on diving / diving related travel, the rest I wasted. True story! And I do not regret it one bit, although, unfortunately, its long gone now.

EDIT: I meant to add that my physical afflication is what I blame for being so 'one-eyed' on some many subjects.
