Ok here's the question. I did a quick search and couldn't find the answer anywhere.

This should be quuick easy one, but on this board you never know!

How much of the extra webbing should I trim?
 
The short answer:
As much as possible. It tends to get in the way.


The long answer:
Leave yourself plenty of room until you have used it for enough dives to know you've got it adjusted comfortably. Then think about how you might have to adjust for thicker exposure protection later. After that, I'd trim as much as you can and still have room to feed it.

I figured it was something like that. As short as possible.

Well I don't really have to worry about adjusting it for thicker protection though.

I usually dive a 7mm 2 piece
 
I didn't trim any off the left side, I just tucked it back into some inner tubing so if I need anymore length I have it there. I also have a loop of inner tubing to tuck the right side of my harness in after it passes through the buckle.
