Okay, we took a chance. Not many divers out there. I imagine recent crappy conditions and the scuba show combined to keep divers away. Nonetheless, we tried it.

Surf was not bad at all at 1-2ft, viz was about 5ft maybe 7ft at times, surge was pretty good more shallow, and temp was 56f according to my computer and about 60 on the surface. Not much to see really. Same old 4 or 5 sand critters always around.

My wife and I have new dry suits and a dif combo of undies so this was kind of a checkout dive for us. For that reason alone the dive was worth doing but other than that, not so much.

I had a chance to check in on Sea D Sea as was recommended here by a few of you guys and gals. Nice folks! Got an air fill card and some other small items. The gear is rinsed and drying now we wait again for another calm day...

Considered diving Malaga this past Sunday, but decided to grab breakfast instead once we saw the low tide and modest breakers.

Went out to Vet's last night. Small 2-3' surf and decent 12' visibility. For us, the pool is back open. :)

Must have passed you last night at some point, we went in just before dark. Wicked thermocline around 65 ft last night, if was very welcome towards the end of the dive to thaw out.

Did you see any of those huge scrambled egg looking jellyfish? Saw one heading out and a group of 4-6 around 95 ft that we almost swam through.

One last note if you are looking to go out Sunday. They were putting up no parking signs everywhere for a triathlon going on. Redondo Beach Triathlon | Show Us Your Speed | 6.12.2011

Wow, we must have just missed you, as we also got in a bit before it got dark. Where did you enter? We always go off the lower parking lot stairs (starting in the "Salad Bowl").

Didn't see any of those jellies this dive, but saw several the past few dives at Vet's a few weeks ago. They can get HUGE!

Yeah, the thermocline at ~60' was BRUTAL. We had 59F shallower than 60' and 50F deeper. We spent most of the dive above 60'. :)

Good tip about parking on Sunday (they were just putting up the notices as we packed to leave).

We had to enter at the lower stairs also. The stairs by the upper paking lot and bathrooms were closed.

Reports from the Casino Point dive park recently indicate marked improvement in visibility. I hope to do a dive today to test out my new LED video lights. Will try to report back.

Shaws Cove was ok last night. Surf was a little large, but came in nice sets so you could avoid them if you were lucky. Vis by the reef was probably around 6 to sometimes 8 feet and cleared up a little more in the sand.
