Im glad im keeping up with this thread. Its turning out to be quite humourous. Now were debating cars. It wont be long now before someone asks what the preferred car is for DIR.

E350 Cargo Van.
White, no stickers.
Tank racks and small workbench with full supply of tools and parts.

Yeah, I was going to say, there isnt much debate on that one.

True DIR lemmings know that the "DIR APPROVED VEHICLE" is a White Ford Cargo van...

No air, cruise or tilt. In keeping with the " If you don't need it for a drive.....don't take it " rule.

Yup.

Not wanting to start a ford/gm/dodge debate, but I find it humorous that there is distaste for gm. Why is it that the small block chevy is the most popular engine of all time for aftermarket parts and is used in more racing series than any other? Maybe your referring to the construction of the vehicle and not the engine? All mfg's have problems. If you look at the engine/drivetrain specs of the big 3, you will see that dodge always overengineer's things, (heavy, bulky) while ford has some of the most inefficient casting processes of them all. Ford always does things the hard way too. What was the purpose again of mounting the starter selonoid on the firewall? Chevy never has been known to make heavy duty drivetrains (the muncie, the 10 & 12 bolt rearends, etc) but thier engine program was head and shoulders above the rest.

(of course, im talking about the late 60's & 70's. )Nowadays its nearly all junk.
