I'm a Fish!
Howdy Campers. A couple of weekends ago I returned to the sea with my camera. The weekend of May 4th I dove with Conch Republic Divers for Island Dive Fest 2012. I had not been in the water with my camera since August of last year.

Finally getting around to posting some pics.

For w/a I shot my Tokina 10-17mm. Here are some shots of the people I was diving with.

Are you sure that is Capt Gary? This guy is more handsome.

Could just be the photographer.

How to get the fish, not be scared of the camera, when not doing macro?

I got tons of nice coral pics, because when the fish saw the big fisheye lens & two strobes coming towards them...scooted away :(

Since it's a P&S, even with both strobes at max power, the zoom drastically cut the light, way underexposed.

I even tried camping a site, waiting for the fish to relax and reappear - the fish would stay away.

Can I try singing to them?

Nice shots FE.

Love the shell with the sun-rays

Thanks Tim

Mark,

I start a good distance from teh school, and take a couple of shots to get them used to the strobes. I then slowly work my way in holding my breath. (Shhh, don't tell the PADI police, or they will take awy my DM) I can hold my breath for a really long time. After a couple of good shots I let my breath out really slow. This usually causes them to scatter, but occassionally they don't so I keep shooting until they do.
