It's an option but since many people seem happy with them, I didn't want to assume it was something wrong with the fin.
 
The primary problem has been the fact that the tops of some toes are rubbed raw on one foot. The secondary issue is that I don't feel that I'm using my whole foot to propel the fin. It feels like much of the work is being done by my toes.

I loaned them, to a friend who was considering buying some paddles who wears a show a size smaller and he said they fit great. Now I'm wondering if they aren't just a bit too small.
 
*Floater*:
One problem was that my springs straps were too tight. you just need time to get used to them. Once they break in (or your feet break in) you'll be fine...
