"Always remember when you buy crap not made in the US that its actual cost is likely less than 10% of retail price."

Really? Many of the most popular fins are designed and/or made in Europe, including the various Mares fins. ScubaPro Jet Fins were designed by Beuchat, a French company.

I made the "mistake" of buying some of those French made fins. Was told, by the LDS, I would be lucky to get two seasons of use out of them as they were an unknown off brand product sold at a sporting goods store. Well its been 14 seasons and the fins are still working just fine although I might have to replace the original straps in another 2 or 3 years. Too bad Beuchat makes "crappy" stuff.:D (insert a minor sarcasm alert)

I agree with you Alex777, good stuff is made outside of the USA.

Ketchupkm, Cast gave you great advice. Your local dive shop will probaby let you try out different fins. Go with what is most comfortable and what you can afford. There are many good fin companies out there. This proud American uses Scuba Pro Twinjets and I also have a pair of Mares Quattros. At the risk of getting thrown under the bus, I prefer my splits.
