I'm just about to bring my new compressor into regular service and am working on the final configuration of everything. Currently my filter towers are attached to one end of the compressor unit (Hypress Horizontal). When doing some test fills, I noticed that the inherent vibration of the compressor is being transmitted through to the towers. The compressor isn't off balance or shaky, but I can see the vibration in the top of the 27" filter housing, for sure. The pressure gauges and shorter towers don't seem to show any evidence of the vibration - just the tallest one.

Is this an issue to be concerned about? Is that vibration likely to impact the life of the filter housings? Cause any other issues I should think about? If so, I can make the tower moveable such that it hangs on the compressor during storage, but off it during operation. If it's not likely to cause issues and is just a fact of life, then I'll focus my time on other parts of the fill apparatus.

Anything with visible vibration will create fatigue with time. I would secure it differently or move it off the machine.

Show us a picture of how it’s mounted?

@Tracy , I was thinking that was the case - hence the question.

@Wookie pics below. Hope they make it clear. Basically, the towers are mounted to a 1" thick slab of wood, and that's bolted onto the frame of the compressor on one end.

My opinion is that the purification chamber is held too low. A little tubing magic and slide that chamber lower in the clamps.

Or get a short piece of unistrut and mount at the top of the board.

I was definitely trying to use the tubing layout as it came to me, but you may be right that lowering/ stabilizing the middle holder is the best idea.

That doesn't eliminate the energy of the vibrations, but at least it would lock that tower in place. I'll start there.

Wondering also about adding some kind of vibration dampener between the board and the frame? Maybe a rubber block between the unistrut and the board? Anyone with creative ideas in that regard?
