Does PADI offer a "Logbook Course?" Do you really need to fill in all the little slots for trivial info? What's the purpose? Yes, some folks get great satisfaction filling in the blanks. On the other hand, probably just as many don't even have a logbook. I'm toward that end of the spectrum. I just exhausted a formal logbook and will not buy another, but will get a simple notebook, instead. On a given dive, I note only the things of interest to me, e.g., whether I was cold, and if so, what the water temp was; novel things I saw/did/happened; comments and ratings about the food/accommodations/dive op/DM. However, most dive notes consist of a dive number, place and date. That's it.
