Hello, Me and an old friend of mine who lives 900 miles from me have just decided on Christmas day (over a few beers) that we need to take a trip together soon, just he and I - no spouses. We are both divers, of the novice variety, and the plan will be for him to meet me in Houston and we will fly out from there. I was thinking about contacting my FunJet agent who has sent me to the Park Royal in Coz last summer (diving with Blue Angle). I really enjoyed that trip (much nicer accomodations than I usually have on vacation) but thought I should see what other options this group might come up with either to Coz or elsewhere. With taxes we paid ~$420 pp for 4 days/3nights all inclusive (except diving) last time and I was trying to keep it in that range especially since my buddy is a professional musician and has more time than money!

What suggestions do y'all have for a trip from Houston for a weekend ~4days and somewhere around 5-6 tanks of liesurely diving? Additional info: we are not picky about accomodations (really I mean it) just want a decent location. Looking for input since, I don't dive often enough to keep up on the less than obvious options we might enjoy.

Cozumel is really popular this time of year. (Went last month, going next month!) All around good place to go and all.

Now, you can do IAH to CZM easy enough, but where is he coming from? You sure he wants to come to Houston, then start over there? Might be cheaper and easier to book from where he is direct to CZM, and meet you there.

If you want find him cheap and easy flights to CZM, try Cancucn CUN. May save big bucks, and only a few hours more each way to take bus between CUN and Playa del Carmer ferry to San Miguel.

have fun, don

:bandit_2: Try some of the downtown hotels and eat in town. The Pepita is about 30 bucks a day. It's clean and a couple of blocks off the square.

Thanks to both for the tips. I had not thought about the CUN options and the hotel tip is helpful too. I always like putting together my own trips so this gives me some more ideas. Thanks again for the help!
