Freedom has a price, and thats just a fact of life.

Arduous its clear to me your willing to give up all your civil rights, however I'm not. It has nothing to do with trying to hide anything, but I believe in the constitution which you obviously dont, and no I dont support a government that is intrusive. That is also my right as a american citizen. The laws of the US are to protect us from the government abusing them. Why dont you just volunteer to put a camera in your house, your bedroom, you family room so the government can protect you 24x7. Its people like you who will destroy what our country has strived so hard to preserve namely "FREEDOM".

We wouldn't have this issue if we allowed the rest of the world to do as it pleases just as we do as we please.

Ramming a way of life and government style down peoples throats is not a good way to make friends and influence people.

If people are being opressed by their own leaders -- so what there are enough TV's with satelites world wide that the common man in most of the world has access to CNN and can see what else is out there and influence change from within.

I agree with you 100%. You dont have to hiding anything just to not want someone prying into your private affairs. Its not like our govt or law enforcement has never abused there power or miss used data that was aquired. Like I said before McCARTHYISM, its happened before and it can happen again. And the day that someone tries to stick a chip in my body or any member of my familys.well they well probably be removing led from theres.:sniper:

I was comennting on why we have this whole witch hunt getting started and why we have people around the planet that want to destroy our way of life.

To the point of loss of personal freedom I completely agree that any moves to further restrict my freedoms are going against everything that was the underlying principles that founded this country. I think our government is already too much in our lives with laws regarding drugs, guns, abortion, seat belts, bike helmets, security checkpoints, stickers on the visor of my car telling me that the small explosives buried in the dash and steering wheel mandated by the govt might infact be harmful......

We embrace freedom-- it may not be free and will cost lives to defend but I personally believe that lost lives to any of the above is preferable to the restrictions that it may place on the rest of our lives. I am willing to pay that price for admission, those that arent can go choose a government that closer reflects thier own views.

When I was in Dublin, Ireland I went out to Temple Bar with some customers. They pointed out all the cameras on the street corners and buildings all throughout Temple Bar. I asked how people reacted to that, because in the US everyone would be screaming and whining about their rights to privacy. Their comment was the only people that don't like them are the pick-pockets that had to go find themselves some real jobs.

What if they wanted to implant a microchip in your hand as a national identity card and by the way, I didnt pull that one out of a hat either as its been talked about before.

I am not here to tick anyone off so I hope that it doesn't happen, but I guess if some people like Dublin Ireland so much than maybe that is where they should be. Not only that but we do already have video cameras in our streets, maybe not on every street corner but there are alot of cities in this country that have used them because of gang problem, we use them in intersections for people that want to run red lights, and for photo radar in school zones, and down town areas. We also have low orbiting satelites that have the ability to read a license plate number from 900 miles out. Its nothing new.
But I still beleive in my freedom, and want to continue to keep as much of it as I can.

I am aware of that. As I am aware that they do have camera in select locations, etc. That wasnt the point though. The point is where do you draw the line. While I understand Places like England and Ireland use camera on every corner and mainly restricts criminal activity, I dont agree that it should be done here. Ever hear the words Innocent until proven guilty? Well I dont wish to be treated like a criminal everytime I walk down the street. That is also why the US Supreme Court rulled that Racial Profiling by Local Law enforcement is illegal. Sure it happens, but it doesnt make it right. Theres alot of things the govt does behind our backs. As for internet tapping they still need a search warrant, which is the way it should be.

rstone I am with you on the whole freedom and privacy thing even though I am a Canadian and the FBI has got no authority this side of the border. I value my privacy and freedoms very very much and would give up some things that are irrelevant in the name of safety, but like as is already said where do you draw the line???? unfortunately it is a new world and a new game and we lose. We aren't the ones drawing the line. Pity
