For me it would be the reefs and wrecks in south Florida. Living in NE Florida, these are all 3-4 hrs from me. Most of the time I make long day trips during the week or weekends. I love going during the week when I can get a day off - the boats are usually pretty empty and the dives are laid back because no one is in a hurry!
My favorite reefs are in the Jupiter/West Palm Beach areas. Jupiter for the larger critters, sharks, goliaths, rays, and West Palm for the larger populations of fish on the reefs. The reefs in West Palm/Boynton are the best in Florida in my opinion; but I do love Molasses reef in Key Largo (not local, but great nontheless)!
For wrecks, Pompano Beach is hard to beat. Wrecks for all skill levels down there from the SS Copenhagen in 20ish feet of water to your deeper technical wrecks. My favorite wreck that I have dove down there so far is the Jim Atria. Now that I am tech certified, I am looking forward to diving some of the deeper wrecks like the Hydro Atlantic / Miller Lite.
