Been there twice this week. WIFI worked fine both trips.

Awesome. I hate using all my Telcel minutes reading Scubaboard during my lunch!

Or uploading pics of the rooster across the street to Facebook...

I didn't see any mention of "LA Terraza"... Located just across the street and upstairs from ProDive. My wife and I ate there 3 out of the 7 nights we were on the island and probably would have gone there every night if we had more energy.... The food is beyond fantastic and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food.

I recommend trying:

The lobster fettucinie alfredo, Lobster/crab stuffed ravioli, and of course the grilled grouper.

I like La Terraza, but it doesn't make my list of top 5 restaurants on Cozumel; I'm not certain it would make my list of top 10. I like the location, sitting up on the Terrace, watching the people down below, and the food is good - though I think the quality was better back when it was still Prima - and it is a good value, especially the pasta dishes. But, for me personally, if I'm only in Cozumel for a week (which is normally the case), La Terraza won't replace any of the following on my list of "go to" restaurants for dinners - La Cocay, Kinta, Kondesa, Del Sur, Casa Mission, Guidos, El Moro, Pancho's Backyard, Rolandi's.

Don't forget Ernesto's Fajita Factory. Best fajitas in the world! My wife refused to eat fajitas before she tried Ernesto's and she will only eat Ernesto's. Mainly because they only use onions and no peppers.

There is also another restaurant right on the beach on the East side (read deserted) part of the island. They have no electricity and everything is grilled. Really good seafood. I cannot remember the name but it is not too far from Coconuts which is another good place (but only for drinks). They are both REALLY off the beaten path.

i agree on Ernesto's - no trip of mine to Cozumel would be complete without at least one lunch at Ernesto's for Fajitas. And I think the East Side restaurant you are thinking of is Chen Rio - very good seafood.

Could be Chen Rio, could be Punta Morena. Was it north or south of Coconuts? We used to eat the whole fried snapper at Chen Rio (south of Coconuts) every time we went around the island, but they have put a lot of pesos into the renovation at Punta Moreno (north of Coconuts) and they have the fried snapper as well. The flies aren't nearly as bad there.

I forgot to mention our favorite place for our whole trip. New Especias! It was fantastic. We had lion fish which was delicious and Franseco ( the chef/owner) made us a special lobster pasta! The service was exceptional and everything was to die for! The chocolate dessert that you have to order right away melted in your mouth! A must do for dinner! Check it out!

Favorites, whether "off beaten path" or not: ... I spend A LOT of time off the beaten path, exploring the island and San Miguel, but don't really eat "off the beaten path" too much, because we already have a list of 20+ places we like to eat, and can't make all those in one trip as it is! :D

Buccanos (day or night) - breakfast, lunch & the fabulous Buccanos at Night! (numero uno, top 3 for sure)

'Ohana - dinner, EVERYTHING is excellent! from authentic Chicago style deep pan pizza to their amazing lobster rolls...it's all good!

Le Chef - top 3 for sure for me & my wife's favorite restaurant on the island.

La Terazza - other part of the top 3, great, just great.

The Museum - great for a day off from diving breakfast, also open for lunch and now dinner

Rock-n-Java - I think this place gets overlooked by some because they think it's a "tourist" place. Truth is, I usually see more locals , sure maybe ex-pats, but locals non-the less, than tourists in here. the food is wonderful, extensive menu for breakfast, lunch & dinner and fur sure some of the best desserts on the island!

El Moro - hard to find, but well worth it. traditional Yucatan/Mexican dishes...awesome

Le Hatch (good "go to" place when other places have closed, open till at least midnight wed-sat) El Pastor tacos or torta is highly recommended

Burritos/Gorditos - EXCELLENT Burritos...bring a friend. :D

Rastas/Freedom Bar/Bob Marley's (whichever you prefer) - great relaxing natural "air conditioned" place to spend the p.m. after a mornings dive.

Still like Mission Parillia (sp?), or is it Parilla Mission? on 30th? - heck, I just go there nowadays

and of course, no visit to Coz is complete without a stop at Casa Denis.

a new one we found this year, is sort of off the beaten path. You could miss it if you didn't know it was there anyway...Rock-n-Java Noodle Bar - we ate there twice, split the Chicken Cashew noodle bowl, both times...excellent! located just to your left, as you walk into Mega from the covered parking lot.

Those are the one's right off hand I can think of as stand-outs...my wife has also become quite fond of the little Chocolate shop on 3rd Ave. South, for a quick dessert stop. "Chocolate Belle" or something like that? we usually park in the public parking lot just next door, so it's right on the way back to the car...how convenient! :D

As an aside.. the happy hour food at the BA was pretty darn good and CHEAP!!! Check it out.
