jodee:
my wife and i are experienced divers and are planning our first trip to cozumel in late december. any tips? also, what are the water temps really like - at surface and at depth? please keep in mind that we live in lake havasu city, arizona and don't like cold water very much.
:offtopic: Welcome to SB, Jodee!

That subject can be well researched on other active threads in this forum, or you can open a thread along those lines if you don't find what you need.

And you are welcome to post your own thread in our Introcutions forum, if you/d like, where we can welcome you appropriately. :D

Now that I think about it, it is El Foko. I also think we ate at El Mission. I wanted to add it to my original list but couldn't remember the name. My wife thought it was El Mission but wasn't sure. Based on the previous description, I think it was.

I can't wait to try the other restaurants suggested. Thanks for your posts!

Although I LOVE the authentic-style restaurants, there's nothing wrong with enjoying the touristy spots in Cozumel (and Mexico) as well.

I know it's on the main strip, but still quite a bit of fun: Carlos and Charlies.

Matt

OMG

skeet:

ggunn:
El Capi Navigante
Sonora
Los Gavianes (sp?)
Santiago's (when it's open)
El Moro
La Perlita
La Choza
Pancho's Backyard
Prima
Casa Denis

La Cabana del Pescador (aka the Lobster House)
Chen Rio
Paradise Cafe (aka Bob's Marley Bar)
Palmeras*

*I hope my inclusion of this one doesn't invalidate the rest of my list. Despite its Denny's style menu and the fact that is possibly the most touristy eatery on the island, their broiled octopus (not on the menu, but ask) is some of the best I have had anywhere. It's a great "people watching" spot, too.

For Breakfast I would add.......Cocos and the Museum. Very good on last trip.
For Dinner I would add La Veranda.

The rest of the list is quite good. Nice job Gordon. La Perlita was absolutely out of this world two weeks ago. We ate there twice. The only other rest. that we do that with are El Moro and Prima.

The only thing we get at Primas is the 3/4 pd. Lobster Tail for 275 pesos. Best Lobster on the island IOO. Wonderful Key Lime pie as well.
