Fwiw..I don't have a booster either. It is no problem to fill O2, nitrox, trimix etc...without a booster.

That's cool... like I said it's not even an issue here and 80% is just fine. Frankly the whole 80% vs. O2 thing is a bit of :deadhorse: and off topic. Apologies to the OP for the side show.

Anyway, try adjusting your GF's and hopefully you should feel better.
 
Dropping the GF high down to 70 is certainly going to help; raising the GF low up to the 50-80 range is something you might consider as well. After using 30/70 or VPM-B +3/GFS 70 and not feeling great afterwards, I've had good results with 50/80 and 60/80 using dil mixes up to 65% He. My dive buddies are in the 80/85 crowd and diving richer He mixes...maybe I'll wind my way there someday.
 
I run vpm +2. I was taught early on that there is really no rush to get out of the water. Think about that. If you are not having a emergancy or stressed, stay awhile and enjoy the last 2 stops.

There are plenty of people that get tired from being on a boat --- from the sun and the motion, over a morning or afternoon......people that don't even dive....
So your tiredness after diving may just be the sun and the boat ride :)

No, that's not right :sarcasm: You MUST first change your deco profile (altering the GF or conservatism) before you can even start thinking about any other possible causes.

I cannot agree with you at all! Too many other factors that easily explain tiredness (including partying the night before....) that will not make me change my profile.

Agree with you 100% but I think aj was maybe being sarcastic? (or maybe not). It is worth noting that the OP did mention the following:

I am not in amazing shape, with 6-pack abs, but I am certainly not in bad shape. I eat right, hydrate and begin these dives well rested.

So taking this into consideration and barring any issues with motion sickness or too much sun exposure... then it could very well be a matter of dialing in the right conservatism level and adding a rich mix or O2 on his shallow stops.
 
Fine...then exaggerate the daylights out of the deco part of this equation.....the OP does the 160 foot dive as described, does structured deco stops from 50 feet deep --and carries a full sized stage bottle full of pure O2..and at the 20 foot stop, does 12 minutes on O2, then 12 on Bottom Mix, and then back and forth like this until the stage is almost empty.....then, the OP can hang on the surface for another 10 minutes and have the crew pull the gear out of the water, and then help him up on the boat....After all of this, and the massive tip required for the boat crew and all this nonsense, the OP would KNOW that they have performed a maximum CLEAN, and if they are tired after this, either it is the time out in the sun and on top of the water for a day--or, it is an indication that Diving is just not the right sport for the OP. :)
 
Dan, thanks for the reply, but I can assure you that it is not sun or motion sickness. I have thousands of dives and have been working in South Florida for years. I have crossed the gulf stream in 15-20' seas. I don't think that flat calm seas on a beautiful February day would be enough to stress me. I attribute not feeling as well as I think I should to decompression and nothing else.

Matt, I wasn't actually trying to be snarky.....In fact, lots of people just get tired from a day on the water...be it the sun, the excitement..the deepness of the relaxation, whatever...If not this, then Id say it would be worth it to do the max clean type experiment, and see if this changes the post dive fatigue. If it DOES change it, then you have a starting point for beginning a workable deco strategy...though most likely, it will end up just being a couple of extra pure O2 cycles at 20 feet ( or 80/20 at 30 feet) with BM between them. Boats and many tech diving buddies WILL NOT like this, as it impacts everyone else's time and what they can do....but there could be some boats and groups where this will be allowed. If you really are getting more tired than expected, treating this with coffee is probably NOT the best way to go with it....meaning you are right to try to find out what is going on.
