I was not passing judgement at all. It is just so important and can never be underestimated to be prepared. I think their have been times when I have been over confident that something like this would never happen to me, but it can happen to anyone. Very sad for the family and everyone involved.
 
This is NOT the official version but I will say this:

New diver with approximately 10 dives. Night dive at Ansell Point (advanced site for those who don't know Ansell). Spearfishing at 150'. Dropped spear gun at 150' and went after it.

If that is the likely case (not official), then it makes sense now.
 
I was not over seeing this dive, had I been this would not have happened. I have 25years experience in diving.
I was there with the investigation team.
I would love to meet with divers who have been to this site as I have sooooo many questions.
 
Thanks for the talk today BRADNERBOY I have passed on condolences to the father of the deceased on behalf of entire dive community, he thanks you all. I will be posting the sequence of events which lead up to the accident soon.
