We have just received reports of a fatal diving accident at one of Germany’s most popular inland dive sites.

The Scuba News has just received confirmation of a fatal diving accident that occurred yesterday, Tuesday afternoon (October 7, 2025), at the Kreidesee in Hemmoor, Germany.

According to initial reports, emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 5:50 p.m. Rescuers attempted to save the diver, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The diver’s equipment has been secured as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Kreidsee, a flooded chalk quarry in northern Germany, is a well-known destination for both recreational and technical divers, offering depths of more than 60 metres and striking underwater visibility.

This is a developing story, and The Scuba News will provide updates as more verified information becomes available.
