I didn't see any news on this but stumbled across this, I have been trying to talk myself into booking a trip with $777 air, trying to talk my dive bud into going to share room expenses, and today I find $586 air from Lubbock?! :shocked2: Damn, that's $50 less than booking to Cozumel the same week! :pilot:

I have got to get myself talked into this...!! :eyebrow:

Continental Airlines is flying direct to Roatan on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays in January. The round-trip fare from Houston is $ 438. In our case it is cheaper to drive to Houston than depart from our home town in Louisiana...

Don, what airline is that
Continental. I did a Sidestep.com search for Feb 20-27 trying to talk my bud into going on the trip listed in the Trips forum here and discovered that.

For the same week: You can get mixed airlines for $640 or Cont non-stop from Newark for $663. Looks like it was a little cheaper earlier tho...?

You can set up daily fare alerts at Sidestep if you want to watch for cheaper...?

I checked for a friend out of Columbus, Ohio - same dates: Cont is still $763 with one stop, but TACA is only $481 with two. I've flown TACA before and I'd dang sure fly them again for $300 saved each, but - Cont might go down? Try the daily fare alerts...!

Lubbock to anywhere has seemed higher than anyplace else in so long; I don't have any idea why we're getting a break today? :dontknow:

Hey Don, We have at least 2 folks (maybe 4) in our group flying on TACA from CLE (leaving Friday evening). Your friend in Columbus, if coming with us, would undoubtedly hook up with them in DC. The nice thing about the TACA flight is that it arrives early (10:25 AM)- beats the rush of the big Delta and CO jets arriving at the same time.. If I weren't using Delta miles I would definitely take that route. By the way, I am flying on DL from Columbus (a better deal with miles than from CLE or CAK).

You'all should check out yapta.com it tracks your flights and tells you if the flight has decreased in price and more.

I am in need of education here....I find a Cont AL ticket from Las Vegas/Hou/RTB for $426 but taxes are $349...ok...United has $685 + taxes $87....is there something I don't understand here?

Thanks for any information I need to know....Larry

One of several good ticket search sites. I always start with Sidestep.com and they have an option to double check half dozen other sites - with that one often being included.

I don't understand what you found, and - checking without your dates is academic anyway, which is actually what I was doing for the others above.

Sunday is a bad day to check fares; it's a long story but you generally do better midweek, preferably in the wee morning hours. CajunDiva found IAH-RTB RT for $438 but when I check that for my date today it starts at $493. From LAS, $735.

But tell me the dates you want and I'll look again.

Sorry, I did not finish...I was wondering about the amount of the tax with such a difference...seems like a lot to me, and I wondered why? The Continental price was 426 plus 349 taxes. the other ticket had 87 taxes......Larry
