I'm a Fish!
My dive buddy recently purchased one of these, It looked great with reasonable specs. We took it on its first dive after a rinse tank test. Yes you guessed it. It flooded. Small bubbles were escaping from the power control knob. once flooded a strobe is fubar. so the dive continued, post dive cleanup went on and strobe packed away. by the time it was returned to the shop it had dried out and the insides had expanded and caused the casing to crack in several places. The shop has said the flood was caused by the cracks and not as it has happened. and will not return it to the manufacturer. Has any body else had a problem with fantasea remora strobes flooding?

I would be willing to bet that the cracks are a result of the flood. I have dealt with strobes for several years and seen plenty flooded strobes. I would recommend sending it back to Fantasea with a detailed account of what you saw with the bubbles.

It is a shame the shop it was returned to had not arrived at the same conclusion, Given that they had a comprehensive letter explaining the flood and exactley where the bubbles were escaping from.
To quote their words, It was more than apparent when i first unboxed your unit that your equipment had six lardge cracks that would cause the unit to flood within seconds.
How anybody as a customer read that?
(1) as a general statement?
(2) as to emply that the customer has no common sense what so ever?

Hi, thanks for both posts. It is my remora strobe and fred kindly posted my problem while I was 'ranting' off an email to the repair shop. Much appreciate your time. Cheers!

All hail good viz!

Contact Fantsea.com and go to their support area. File a support ticket. There was a known bad batch of these on their initial order. I think they will replace it directly to you. You will have to send it in.

Warranties are between you and the manufacturer - not the retailer. That being said, I go to great lengths to help my customers when they have problems.

This was the only known problem with the Remora and it only happened on a few of the first ones.

Not sure in your country, but in my regional, typically we pay more when purchase from local authorized retailer/distributor; as their price incl. shipment, import duty, levy, tax, service ect.
Since we deal with them and paid the cost DDP store - we do not have to send the defect good directly to the manufacturer. Unless you buy from gray market, the store shall handle and or help you with the warranty.

Fantasea's warranty is with you, the end user. It's always nice if the retailer can send things back for you, but you also can do it.

Thank`s to all with your comments and now i have some information to back up the claim with the shop. The shop should either replace the strobe for a new one ar give a refund. but only after they have sent it back to fuji. The battle begins!!!!

Hi to All,
Jack is correct, on the first limited production run we discovered a small percentage
(4-5%) with hairline cracks around the power output switch. If the Remora doesn't leak on the first dive it is fine and should not have any future problems. If it does leak, then we will immediately replace the unit. Please contact the dealer who sold you the flash and ask them to contact Fantasea Line for warranty replacement.

The problem was solved months ago and all new units do not have any sign of this problem.

We apologize for any inconveniece caused and will do our best to resolve any problems asap.

Aside from this past problem, the Remora is a great flash and perfect for all compact housings.

Any more questions, please direct to me info@fantasea.com
