The Dive Magazine industry photoshops marine life into photos all the time. Do research at sites OTHER than dive related sites.

I think that a resort interested in a fair representation of the diving there would put up only pictures taken on dives there, and only fairly recent dives, to avoid a "best of" compilation that a diver is unlikely to see.

I also think that advertisers trying to sell us clothes, perfumes, and cars should use models with a BMI of 26.5 (US average), instead of the 18 they generally run with. Let's be realistic, if my new "scent" is going to induce women to throw themselves at me, they're probably going to be fat women. ;)

So when you are planning your dive travel and you are checking out websites how much faith do you have in what you see on them?

Do you expect them to reflect what the diving is like in that area?

Making sure the right species are portrayed is only 1/2 of the battle.

The other side of it is that those pictures are exquisitely lit showing colors and brilliance not natural existing.

The bottom line is to dive for the joy of diving and enjoy what the site brings your way.
